What is Agri AI?
Agri AI is practical artificial intelligence for farms and agribusinesses that turns field updates, WhatsApp messages, crop records, livestock notes, inventory counts and compliance documents into clear tasks, alerts, records and management briefs. Agri AI does not replace farmer judgement. Agri AI puts better information in front of the right person at the right time.
Agriculture already has data. The problem is that the data sits scattered across WhatsApp groups, spreadsheets, field notebooks, paper spray records, weather apps, supplier invoices, stock sheets, irrigation logs, packhouse systems and manager memory. Agri AI gathers those scattered updates into simple workflows: daily farm briefs, field issue logs, task assignment, livestock records, inventory alerts and compliance reminders. We build Agri AI for South African farms, co-ops, packhouses and agricultural suppliers from Cape Town, and we have delivered systems like this for 35+ companies over 3+ years.
How does Agri AI work in practice?
Agri AI works as a chain of small, reliable steps that start with the update a farm team already sends. A supervisor records a voice note about a burst irrigation line. A scout photographs crop stress in a block. Agri AI transcribes the message, reads the photo, categorises the issue, tags the field or camp, sets urgency, assigns an owner and writes the record.
From there the work runs on a schedule instead of on memory. Managers receive a daily farm brief showing urgent items, completed work, open tasks and alerts worth acting on. Reminders fire for vaccinations, spray intervals, audits and certificate renewals. Agri AI flags risks and patterns, then a person confirms the decision. We assemble these steps with n8n or Make.com, with OpenAI, Anthropic Claude or Google Gemini handling language, ElevenLabs where a spoken reply helps, and the records landing in Supabase or PostgreSQL.
What does Agri AI replace?
Agri AI replaces the manual admin between something happening in a field and somebody being able to act on it. Agri AI replaces retyping WhatsApp updates into spreadsheets, rebuilding spray and livestock records the week before an audit, phoning three supervisors to find out what happened yesterday, and the manager memory that carries the whole operation between meetings.
Field updates buried in message threads become structured logs with a category, a block, an urgency and an owner. Spray, irrigation, livestock, stock and compliance records that lived on paper become searchable. Input costs and stock levels become visible before a shortage stops work rather than after. Risk and compliance issues surface while they are still small instead of once they are expensive. We do not promise specific percentages, because every farm and season is different. We map the current reporting flow first, then show which manual steps Agri AI removes.
Does Agri AI work with our existing farm tools?
Agri AI is built into the systems a farm or agribusiness already runs, not sold as a replacement for them. Integration is most of the work. Agri AI connects to WhatsApp Business Cloud API and Twilio for field reporting, Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 for documents and calendars, HubSpot or GoHighLevel for farmer enquiries and rep activity, and Xero or Sage for input costs and supplier invoices.
Records that need their own home land in Supabase or PostgreSQL, dashboards read from there, and everything runs behind Cloudflare. Where a farm sells direct, Shopify and PayFast slot into the same flow. Sensors, satellite data and packhouse software can join later, once the everyday reporting works. Many farms start with nothing more than the WhatsApp updates, spreadsheets and documents already in use. If a system has an API, Agri AI can usually talk to it.
Is Agri AI POPIA-aware, and who approves decisions?
Agri AI is decision support, not uncontrolled decision-making, and Agri AI is POPIA-aware from the first design session. Farm decisions affect yield, animal health, compliance, chemical use, water, cash flow and customer commitments, so Agri AI is scoped to capture, summarise, organise and flag. Qualified people confirm anything that carries real risk.
Four controls hold that line. Expert escalation routes agronomic, chemical, disease and veterinary questions to qualified advisors instead of answering them. Human approval keeps sensitive operational actions behind a review step. Confidence levels show uncertainty on photo-based, weather-based and record-based outputs, so nobody treats a guess as a reading. Privacy and access protect farm, customer, supplier, financial and staff data with role-based access and audit trails. Personal information stays in systems the business owns, and every automated action is logged, so an audit can show who or what did what, and when.
How do we start with Agri AI?
Starting with Agri AI is a conversation, not a contract. Tell us where farm updates go missing today and which records cost the most time to rebuild. From there Agri AI usually begins as a readiness audit: a process review, a data review, a workflow map, a risk review, the quick wins, the best first pilot and a 90-day roadmap.
The easiest first pilot is normally a WhatsApp farm assistant, because it works with behaviour field teams already have. Photos, messages and voice notes become field issue logs, tasks, manager alerts and a daily brief, without asking anyone to learn new software first. Once that earns trust, Agri AI grows one module at a time: crop monitoring, livestock operations, compliance and traceability, input and inventory control, agri sales, then a full farm control tower. Everything runs on the business's own accounts, and the business owns the workflows, prompts and data.
